How do I renew my old American passport?

I am a New Zealander that holds an expired American passport from when I was a baby as my father (deceased) was American.

I lived there till I was 4 then lived in NZ since then I’m looking to move back to the states https://vlc.onl/ .

Do I renew my old passport or have to apply for another type of visa??
