  • EAD vs green card for foreign doctors

I was a foreign doctor on B1/B2 visa.... I got married to a US citizen. I already have my EAD (green card will take around 1 more yr). Will I be considered as a visa requiring doctor in medical residency 10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254 job? What less benefits will I get compared to a GC holder in medical residency job?

With the EAD, you don’t need visa sponsorship for residency, so you’re not considered a visa-requiring applicant. Make sure you’re ECFMG certified and meet state licensure requirements.

The main difference from a GC holder is that your EAD is temporary and needs renewal. GC holders also have easier international travel and can sponsor family members, which you can’t do yet. Some residency programs and federal scholarships may prefer or require GC holders due to funding or institutional policies

Hope this helps. My response was based on my research, knowledge and external sources like skiplegal.ai
