Passport renewed but visa fee was paid In usvisascheduling.com using old passport

1. I tried to apply my sister B2 VISA last year,
2. I filled DS 160
3. Then on usvisascheduling.com created an account with her passport details
4. I paid $185 VISA interview fee too
5. But I was not able to get any interview dates before late 2025,
6. 8 months passed and her Passport had less than 6 months remaining before expiry,
7. so I applied for renewing her passport.
8. She received a new passport
9. I filed a new DS-160 for her with new passport details.

its not possible to update the passport number in usvisascheduling.com
I can simply create a new login for usvisascheduling.com with new passport detail but then I wont be able to use the already paid $185 fee.


I raised a request and usvisascheduling.com service-desk says that I should schedule the interview with old passport details and
take both passport and both DS160 to the interview.

This is what they replied.

You may update the new DS-160 confirmation number on your profile and proceed to the carry old and new DS-160 confirmation page.
You will not be able to update the new passport details in your profile on your own, so you may proceed ahead with completing the application and letting the officials at the Visa Application Center know about the changes to be made on the day of appointment.

scheduling the interview usign an expired passport, doesn’t sounds right to me.
Has anyone been through this situation ?
