Visitor Visa and L1

Hello,

I got my Visitor Visa in 2005 for 10 years valid till 2014.

Currently I got L1 Visa from my current employer A which is valid till 2013.

But they hv not canceled(witout prejudice ofcourse)my visitor visa.

Currenly I m in US on L1. I willbe goin back in abt 6 months,

Now Can I come back to US on my Visitor VIsa to visit my freinds and relatives? At POE, I hv to specify that I want to enter US on Visitor Visa and not on L1?

I hv one more question: My freind got F-1 currently but his valid visiot visa was cancelled stating "Canceled without Prejudice" ..

Why does that happen?

Cancellation of previous Visas is left to Visa officer's discretion.
