ESTA still pending after 8 days

Hi everyone, my boyfriend and I, both portuguese, applied for our ESTA to travel to the United States on the same day. Mine was approved within 30 minutes, but his has been pending for 8 days.We've never been to any high risk countries. We called CBP and they told us to wait, and if it’s still pending by October 6, we should call them again since our flight is a week later. Has anyone else experienced such a long pending ESTA? Any advice?

Per my knowledge, its usual processing time they will take. processing time will vary based on the application. Sometimes it will take some weeks to adjudicate the application. You may call them as per CBP instruction. But i am not sure if it can be expedited as you booked flight ticket. If any urgency then you may look for alternate visa such as B1/B2. Thanks
