South Korean transit visa from India

Hello there,

I have a Japan trip coming up with a long layover in Incheon on my return. Was planning to step out and explore the area for a few hours before my return trip to India.

Has anyone applied for the transit visa from India specifically from Bangalore? If so what are the timelines and does one need to submit their passports ? The trio is close to Christmas and don't want to rush the passport being unavailable as well.
