Flight booking vs Visa application

Hi all,

I am travelling to Switzerland with my mom from India. I am a government employee and she is an ex government employee. There's very less chance of Schengen visa cancellation (it will get confirmed from Switzerland).

So will it be okay if I book Non-refundable flights for the same? As the refundable flights are costing me way too much.
