Change of status from visit visa to student visa

hello everyone..
i need some help on this...I stay in India...And i have a visit visa valid for 5 years..Now i want to convert it to student visa...Ill have two options then..Either apply it in my own country or Go to US and then convert it to student visa..My questions are
a) What will be the pros and cons of applying it in India or in US?
b)What will be the rules for converting it to f1 in US?
c)Will my visit visa be cancelled once my student gets approved?
d)Is there a possibility of my student visa getting rejected and also the visit visa getting cancelled?
