Can my father attend VISA interview without my Mother??

Hi, I am a student in US and am inviting my parents to US for my graduation ceremony.
Both my mom and dad have scheduled the interview for VISA at HYD.
My mom would not be able to attend the visa interview due to my ailing grand father.
Can my father attend the interview alone without my mother?
If so what are the documents he would need to support that?? please suggest Interview is scheduled on April 13th.

He should carry some proof regarding your grandfather's illness.

Your mother should call and let VFS know that she will not be able to attend. They may be able to reschedule it for her.

I guess in agitation you misinterpreted my reply. All i wanted to know was if there was any guideline under VFS related to this problem. My query was not intended to doubt your advise rather I was just trying to make sure if there was any clause which I might have missed addressing this issue. More ever as this is a public forum I was expecting anyone who might have been in this situation before to respond. So you have no reason to be so offended.

I again request anyone who have been in this situation to respond to help me in this situation.

Nobody is agitated. Your mother should really contact VFS asap. She paid for that service and they are the only people who can reschedule her appointment or modify your father's appointment.

People expect written official rules for millions of possible scenarios. It does not exist.

It is simply a matter of common sense and applying the rules.

If your father has appointment, he obviously can attend the interview, irrespective of whether your mother is able to attend or not. Those are two separate applicants (even though they may have an appointment together).

Simply, for your father's interview purposes, if they ask why your mother has not attended, your father should give justifiable reason and be ready provide the proof.

As per your mother, she would have to reschedule the appointment with VFS.
