How long is a submitted DS-160 and barcode valid?

I submitted a DS-160 form online today for my parents and was wondering how long the form and produced barcode is valid. Their visa interview is 40 days from today so I want to make sure that they do not run into any problems because their DS160 cannot be retrieved.

Is there any validity period between ds 160 form submitted and visa appointment date?

i am planning to visit india on may 1st week 2015 can i fill DS-160 form and submit now?
