Visitor visa-221g-Can v submit passport in other country after 221g status clarifies

My father had gone for a visitor visa interview to Mumbai consulate and he got a 221g.It is almost 8 week now and his case is still in pending status.

My father has to go to London on 1st July and he can not postpone his trip to London from 1st July. So I have three questions which are stated below:

1. Considering just 5 working days remaining before 1st July, is there a possibility we can expedite this process?

2. If it happens that he is in London when his US visa pending status gets clear, then can he submit his passport along with 221g to US consulate in London?

3. If he can not submit his passport in US consulate in London to get the visitor visa, then what is the last day from the day his pending status gets clear that he can submit his passport in Mumbai consulate?
My father is coming back on 4th Sept from London.

Please reply if anyone knows something about this.

B1/B2 221g retired person

Hello Everyone,

My dad is a retired person & my mom is a housewife. The interview went well & in the end they asked him about his work. My dad was working for Department of Atomic Energy in Bhabha Atomic Research Center(BARC) as a Mechanical Engineer for more than 30years. The interviewer gave him a blue slip & asked him to submit the additional documents by email. They asked documents only for my dad & said my mom's visa will be done automatically once my dad gets his visa.

Interview in Mumbai-5/24/11
221g requested documents submitted only for my dad- 5/26/11
Got first reply(asking for my invitation letter)- 5/28/2011
Submitted all the documents once again-5/30/2011
DS160 number came in the Case Status Report- 6/22/2011
Submitted passports-6/23/2011

The person at the consulate said that they will get the passports by courier in next 1-2weeks.
Luckily for us it took just 16 working days. I know it is very painful to wait for so long without any reason. I was very tensed since I am expecting my first baby in the month of September. I want my parents to be here with me as early as possible.
First of all my dad was never involved in any kind of Research work in Dept. Of Atomic Energy. He was working as a Mechanical Engineer plus he is retired now. He showed a good bank balance of about Rs 5,50,000/- & property+investments up to 1crore. I was very shocked when he got a blue slip. Anyways I am at peace now.
Don't worry I hope everyone gets their visa.

Can you please post your parent's interview experience?

I can see they are well off in india, so when you say "Invitation Letter" do you mean the sponsorship or just the regular invitation letter?

Did you mention about ur wife's pregnancy or did the VO asked about it?
