10 yr validity of passport

Hi,
My dad has Indian passport with 20 yrs validity. He also has 10 yrs multiple entry us visitor visa. I read today that US is not allowing people to enter USA with passport validity more than 10 yrs.

Pls advice what I should do. My dad is scheduled to visit US in 2 months.

Please get a new passport for him as soon as possible.

As this is so new and information in newspaper does not provide accurate legal information that we would like to have, I am not completely sure.

But to the best of my knowledge, in this scenario, person should get new passport, and also carry old cancelled passport which has valid 10 years US visa in it, and travel with both passports together (one valid, one cancelled).

Per news on Chennai US consulate website, US Government recognizes the passport and this seems to be a recommendation of the Indian Embassy at Washington.

Does anyone know of a situation where immigration authorities had a problem with 20 year passport?

My parents are traveling next month and they both have 20 year passports!!
