Visitor visa for friends

We have invited a family form Mumbai to visit us over the summer. The grown ups are in their 30s and have 2 kids aged 5 and 10 years. They have already booked the tickets for May mid. They have their interview begining of May. Will it be helpful to show the return ticket to the officer during the time of interview as proof that they will be coming back to India? We are not sponsoring them. They are bearing all the costs to come here.
