  • visitor visa rejection for retired parent-Ds160 application query

Visitor visa applied for my parents – They applied twice and both the interviews were unsuccessful.
Am on H4 visa and my husband works on H1bvisa
First Interview- held on 4th june 2010
    To my father
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. What is your profession??
Am lawyer ---showed his identification card.
    2. Where does ur son-in-law work??
Xxxx, company( legally employed on H1b status) but did not have visa stamp on passport but had I797 form the new employer which was valid for one year.

Parents showed I797 document .He put them on hold went inside looked into something and got back.

I think I made a mistake while filling out the ds 160 form
    1. Father primary occupation??
    Legal profession.
    2. On the monthly income??
I checked does not apply. Since his income solely depends on the number of clients received per month.
He does earn quite some money from his practice and pays tax for the same.
    3. On the present employer name??
I wrote the home address, because he doesn’t has an office.
Since he is practicing with high court,
Is his employer?? High court or self employed, but of course high court does not pay him, his clients are those who pay him for his advise.
I am confused. Please do help me on how to fill in the application on Ds160.

On 11 August 2011, My parents took their second interview

I made few changes on Ds160 form.

    1. Father’s primary occupation??
    Retired.
    2. Was he previously employed??
    I checked NO.
Should I write about his legal profession practised previously.
If yes, what should be the address of the employer??
Should it be the address of high court or the location of house since he did not have a private office.
    3. Were you ever rejected a usa visa??Explain??
I checked “YES”. I just wrote 214(b) rejection with date.

    During the interview day

    1. What do you do??
I am retired Advocate .I have rental income from my property- which was not mentioned in the application.
    2. Do you have property??
Yes, I do . My father offered to visa officer if he wants to see the document, the visa officer send no thanks.

    To my mother.
    1. What do you do??

    2. Do you have property??

    4. What does your son do??
Xxx, company india and he is married.
    5. Does your daughter work??
No she is on h4, not working.
But I volunteer @ non profit organization.- should it be disclosed or not.
The visa officer said your rejected visa again on 214(b) basis.

        Kulli,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have a question. What did you put on the field where it says, "explain why your visa was rejected"?

        Thanks
