  • Another what are my chances!

Well, not my chances, but my girlfriends.

I'm currently living and working in China as an international school teacher. My grandfather passed away last week and will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery on 20 January 2012. I'd like to take the opportunity of already traveling to the US, to bring my Chinese girlfriend with me.

She is in the process of becoming a lawyer - doing what I would call a paid internship. So, she doesn't make a lot of money, but has a "good" job.

I will be paying for her plane ticket and my parents will be supporting both of us for the 6 days in the US.

I'd think it would be best to have a round trip ticket in hand for the visa interview.

Any idea of her chances? Any recommendations?

"chances of approval" depend on your girlfriend's situation

If she can demonstrate she has strong ties to China (family in China, as you say, attending college, a reasonably good job, etc) she should be good to go. Showing an invitation letter from your parents about how much they would like to meet her, and stating they will house & feed her, which places they plan to take her too, etc - won't hurt.

Mentioning also that she plans to attend with you your grandfather's burial @ ANC may also be positive. Who knows - may prompt additional questions too.

In any case, I wouldn't buy her ticket until she has her visa approved.
