  • General visa application status...urgent help!

    for example, if father, mom ,and daugther apply together and only dad answers questions at the time of interview and application was refused by a visa officer. do you think applications of mom and daugther were also refused automatically since they were also traveling.

    Next time whenever an individual applies on his/her own for visa for example daughter in this case, will she write in her visa application form that her previous application was declined?

    is my understanding correct? please reply me as soon as possible. i would really appreciate your help.

    Normally they will specifically say so. And next time every applicant will or will not have a Visa in each of their passport and can answer accordingly.
    This is my opinion and not legal advice.

      @kabkaba

      I am going to apply myself for a tourist visa. The thing is, in 2009, I was accompanying with my dad since he was an aged person and could not travel alone. He was the main applicant and I was just traveling with him. His application was declined so did mine automatically. I was not interviewed at all.

      I need to answer a question in the application form Ds-160.

      "Have you ever been refused a visa to USA before"? considering my above scenario do you think I will say YES to this question and give an explanation of previous refusal. There is an option in the form "EXPLAIN" if your visa was refused before.

      BTW, visa officer did not tell any specific reason to my dad . she just handed over a pre-written paper. I beleive it was 214(b)....

        Obviously, if you applied for a Visa (filled form DS156 or DS160) and appeared for interview, and if you don't have a Visa to show, it counts as a denial. It does not matter if questions were directed to you or not. Each applicant is a separate applicant and the application is always his/her own (even in case of minors). Only the interview is together does not mean the denial applies to one applicant only. Answer it as yes and explain whatever happened.
