  • I94 has B2 in place of valid until date

    Hi,

My mom reached US recently. At POE immigration officer asked how long she will be staying and she answered 6 months, it seems. Now I94 valid until has 'B2' in it. What does this mean. I have checked few forums and the answers were 'It could mean 6 months' or 'Go to a nearest USCIS office and have a date stamped in'. Can someone please update me on what I should do for this. Is it necessary to visit the USCIS office?

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Shanmuga.

Do you mean to say there is no date whatsoever on that paper? There are normally 2 dates on it, date of arrival and date of permitted stay. It is good it get it clarified from a nearby CBP post.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

      Thanks for the response.

Yes... There was the date of arrival stamped and for valid until 'B2' was written.
Is there any online help available from USCIS to inquire about this.

      Regards,

        Not USCIS.
Visit the nearby international airport, there will be a CBP deferred inspection post there. They will correct the I-94. Search cbp.gov for the locations.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
