Student as a sponsor

I am a student and a US-born citizen living in the US and I would like to sponsor my boyfriend (who is Ukrainian) to visit me for the summer (we have no intentions of getting married any time soon so it would be strictly a tourism visit). I do not have a job as my studies are full time but I have sufficient money in my bank account (from previous jobs) to support him while he is here. Am I able to sponsor him even though I am currently unemployed?

Also, I typically live with my parents during the summer. Do they need to sponsor him since the residence is in their name?

You can try but someone else who is working would be better.
