  • After a 6 month stay on a tourist visa in the US,how long to wait before re-entering?

    Hello,

I have a european passport and a ten year valid tourist visa. If I leave the US the last day of my six month stay and then go to South America for 4-5 days, am I allowed to then come back to the USA just for 3-4 weeks before leaving the continent for good? Will they be asking me many questions and believe it's weird that I come back after just leaving a few days? Can I be denied the entry? Thank you for your advice.

Yes, you can be denied entry and you can put your visa in jeopardy.
The recommended gap between two visits on a visitor visa depends on each person's purpose of visit and duration of stay on previous and current visit.
FOr example business people may visit US twice a month staying 4-5 days without any problems .

Since you already stayed 6 months on a visitor status, returning after 4-5 days will definitely cause problems at entry. Leave a distance of at least 5 months unless you can show a genuine emergency .

I also suggest you leave US a couple of days before your visa expires. If you plan to leave on the last day and something delays your departure by another day, like a cancelled flight, or bad weather or an unforeseen situation, you will end up overstaying and your visa will automatically be cancelled.
