  • B1/B2 Visa interview in 2 weeks.Need some opinions.

I am 23 years old and applying for visitor visa with my parents for the tourism purpose. My sister have been in USA since 4 years on student visa (visited India once in 2009). and now she is doing 1 year OPT(optional program training). I am currently doing my MBBS in India with 6 months study and 1 year compulsory internship still left and I have no intentions of doing my masters in USA. Both my parents are government employee with more than 15 years of job still left and more than half of the expenses are sponsored by my father's company as LTC.

My parents applied earlier for the visa in last March with a purpose of attending convocation ceremony of my sister in last May but rejected at that time.I did not apply at that time because my exmas were scheduled in May.

So now what are my chances to get visa? All necessary documents are ready like bonafide certificate of my college, my fee receipt, college ID proof documents of my parents from their offices like ID proof, salary slip, LTC letter, leave letter, bank certificate for funds, documents of house and cars and my sister's documents like her graduation certificate, i20 from her university, OPT letter/card
    .
Now need your opinions if any documents are left?? And any other suggestions regarding the interview are most welcomed. And thanks for it in advance

First of all, it is ok you are carrying all those documents but they donot carry much weight
in the decision process. Please understand that the officer will decide on the basis of how and what you guys answer to his verbal questions, without even looking at most of the documents.

    Please post;
    1. Your parents' first interview whatever they can recall.
    2. Do you have any other siblings besides your sister?
    3. What is the reason and the duration for the trip you wish to mention at the interview ?
    4. What is the range of your parents' combined income per year? less than 10 lacs,
    10-20 lacs, 20 lacs +?

      here are the answers.
1.they can recall the first interview. The reason behind the rejection is-
VO - The study course of your daughter was 2 years than why did she take 3 years.
My parents were unable to answer this question and got rejected.
Reason behind it she took 3 years because she was working in the lab for last 1 year with her
professor on thesis and project work and this time I will answer it with the proof of documents
      by her professor.
      2. I have no other siblings.
3.The reason of the trip is for tourism purpose only and duration of the trip will be around 20-25
      days only.
4.Combined income of my parents is around 10-12 lacs per year.

what other questions can be asked in the interview besides these?

Do not mean to dishearten you but in the current scenario, there is still a high chance of denial ,

        1.More so with you applying
as well. That leaves no family tie for you guys to come back to.

2.Also, income is a big factor.
with your sis in OPT , you cannot show that she is funding the trip for 3 people . That leaves
self-financing , which you guys should not be doing with 10-12 lacs combined family income.
The officer will think the income is too less for 3 people to decide to go to US on a pleasure trip.

I suggest you guys wait till your sis has a proper job and a better status like H-1.

Well thanks for your honest opinion and I have already taken a date for interview and can not postpone it beyond April so can't wait till my sister get job.Because till my sis get job probably i'll finish my study and it can be major factor for rejection.

1.I know i have no family tie but I can assure them I'll come back as I have more than one and half year of study in medicine still left, my both parents having government jobs here with 15 years left and moreover we have house and property over 1 crore in here.

2.Income is a factor but as I mentioned earlier about 85-90% expenses will be sponsored by my father's company and we have document regarding that apart from that we have enough funds and savings for other expenses.

Now lets see what will happen.I will post my experience after visa interview.
