HDFC receipt OR no HDFC receipt

Hi Guys

Immihelp suggests that original embassy receipt needs to be sent with documents that need to be submitted in advance (before the interview @ Mumbai). However the checklist I download after getting the appointment says - "Note: Please do not submit the HDFC receipt, store it carefully with you.". Am I missing something here? Can you please help?

You get two receipts. Submit one and keep other with you to take it to the interview.

I am still not sure about that.

Here is the list of documents that they suggest should be sent in advance. The list does not mention receipt and on top of it check the line that I have underlined. They specifically say - do not send your receipts.

- DS-160 Confirmation Barcode printout One photograph as per specification-
- Photocopy of passport data pages (1stand last page).
- Photocopy of the passport pages bearing “Observation” or “Remarks”.
- Two copies of Interview appointment letter.
- Applicants applying for the visa in order to travel with their employer as a domestic worker need to submit a copy of the contract and employers’ visa and passport copy.
- Dependents joining spouse/ father on board a ship need a letter from the shipping company and the principal’s visa copy
- Visa renewal applicants must submit a copy of the previous expired U.S. visa stamped on their
passport
- Applicants applying for R1 visa-copy of notice of action (I-797)

Note: Please do not submit the HDFC receipt, store it carefully with you.

Got the visa - some questions that were asked.

HI All

My father got the visa. The officer did not ask for any document (so much for 3 different file folders ).

The officer asked around 10 questions. They were all around:

1) Why do you want to go ?
2) Who lives in USA?
3) What does the other son do in india?
4) When did you go last time?
5) For how long you want to go ?
6) Will you be going alone?
