Duration of Stay for In-Laws (Visitors Visa)

Hi,

My wife's parents have already been granted visitors visa for 10 yrs. In the application the duration of stay was mentioned as 1 month. The reason of stay was to attend my wife's aunt's son's wedding (US citizen).
But now they would like to stay for 4-5 months. What should they tell the immigration officers to enable them to stay for 4-5 months? They are landing in Newark,NJ.

Any help is appreciated.

That is not a problem, if there is no restrictive note on the visa.
People can change plans.
No need to talk about wedding at entry.
They will just ask about the purpose and duration retquired.
answer should be visiting daughter for 4 months.
Usually they give 6 months of stay to parents anyway but
they can be given 3 months if their answer is 1 month stay.
