  • Mom's visitor visa rejected today at Delhi

Dear member - I need your help.

My mom's visitor visa application got rejected at US embassy in Delhi (Hindi interview) and I am really disappointed. I am graduating next month in US and I want her to come on my graduation ceremony. Here are more details:

    a) My dad expired in 2007 and my mom has been rejected once earlier in 2008 when I was working in US
    b) My mom is a graduate and is a housemaker right now.
    c) She has a huge home on her name and an income of 1.5 L per annum
    d) I don't have any siblings but she lives with her mother and siblings

    Visa officer asked:
    a) Why are you going?
    b) Where does your son study?
    c) Where do you live?

All the questions were normal but no document was checked.

I am planning to send her again next month as I really want her to be with me and I don't see any reason for rejection.

    Could someone help me understand?

Your case is no surprise for rejection.

They look at your real life ties to INdia ( family , work and income) and not documents.

    *Widow
    *Not working
    *Only child in US.

All these are serious negatives , showing no serious ties to India.
The officer thinks she will like to live where her only child lives. ( does not matter if your mother
does or does not want to live in US, this is how the US visa officers decide).

I do not wish to discourage you, but honestly,
she will be repeatedly denied. Because she cannot change the above 3 negatives.
If she had a full time , well earning job in India , she could still have a chance.
