  • Parents B2 visa got rejected @ Mumbai

    Hi All,

    I need help urgently.
My parents got their visa rejected @ Mumbai consulate on Thursday.
They both are working (Dad- in Bank, mom- BSNL)
I am on F1-OPT , currently working in US and my company has filed H1-B for me which is yet to be approved. My husband is on H1-B already.
I have one brother working in Govt and settled in India. We have our property in India.
My parents had got leave sanctioned for 3 weeks and had Govt NOC as well as leave letter and other all documents.
    VO asked for no docs.
According to my parents VO was already irritated before starting interview.

Interview went ok till the VO asked following question -
What is the status of your daughter's visa?
    - My dad answered that she is on F1 - OPT and her company has filed H1B for her.
That time VO gave negative expressions.
    Just asked another question
Why do you want to go now?
    - My mom said that its summer there and we have heard that it is a good time to visit all tourism places.

After that VO just said sorry and returned their passport.

We are very shocked as both are working and our family/property is there. They got rejected with 214(b) i.e, not strong ties to India.

We are very worried and need urgent help.
    - When should we apply next?
    - What should be the reason we give in DS-160 when they ask why do you think your visa was rejected?
    - What are the chances of them getting selected in next interview ? (What different should we do for next attempt)?

Kindly respond as soon as possible.

    Thanks in advance!

    simple mistake

    Hi Dear,

As per me your parents gave too much information to the visa officer which made him change his decision.
One should Always provide specific and short answers to the questions asked by the VO. Your parents should have just said that you are currently on OPT.
By them saying that ur company will be filing for H1b made vo think that you lied at the the time of your f1 interview.
Ask your parents to apply after 2 months and that too separately.
    good luck

      Hi,

Thanks a lot for the information. I had enquired about what to answer if parents were asked my visa status.
Many of my friends got their parents here while they were on OPT and their parents had given the same answer
I see the point of short answers. I will tell this to my parents.

Is there any reason behind telling them to apply seperately?
Also what should we specify in their DS160 for the question - what was the reason your visa got rejected last time

      Thanks in advance!
