  • Valid B1 visa wants to take his spouse along to US on B2 visa

    Hi,

I have a valid 10 year B1 visa. I have travelled for US twice before for Business meeting with my client. Now i might have to go within a month to US and i want to take my wife along with me. Currently she does not have a visa. So i am planning to get her interview schedule at he embassy. I have got a couple of questions here.

    1) Most importanly, can i really take her along if she gets a valid B2 visa?
    2) On what basis can she apply and schedule her interview at the embassy? I do not have any cousins in US who can give me an invitation letter. So what are the other options on which she can apply?
    3) If she gets her visa B2, can we both fly together and go together to same immigration officer as one unit to stamp the port stamping?

    Thanks,

    Mrunal

    1) Sure. Why not? As long as she has the visa, she can go with you, by herself, with friends . . .
    2) Tourism. She doesn't need any cousins. Actually, I'm sure abou 90% or more of people applying to ANY kind of US visa do not have any relative living in the USA.
    3) Sure.

      Thanks for the quick reply...

Just wanted to ask one more thing.

Can she file the visa saying that she wants to accompany me to travel to US? So i am going for some meetings in US for 2 weeks and then we both will stay for another 2 weeks for tourism?

And in this case what kind of documents does she need to show at the embassy since i will be sponsoring the trip. Do i need to have a strong bank balance? I have got good assets to show.

By the way she is a house wife and not working anywhere, i hope this does not change anything.

      Thanks a lot

She can tell that to the consular officer during the interview. Actually, she will be asked for that information.

In 99.99% of the cases, consular officers don't look at bank balances/property titles/etc.

And yes, being a housewife may make it more difficult. Again - the only thing the consular officer cares about is: is this person going to come back to India? or will he/she become an illegal immigrant? Your wife has to satisfy the officer that she will come back. Examples being: she has her home @ India, she's married to you (who have no intent to illegally stay in the US), her whole family is in India, etc.

B1/B2 visa holder wants to invite his spouse n kid to US on B2 visa for accompanying

I am having valid business B1/B2 VISA. Right now I am in US since 1 month (Feb 2017) for business meetings, will be here till end of May 2017. I want to invite my wife n Kid here to stay with me for a month. I am frequent traveler to US. Currently she & kid does not have a VISA. So i am planning for their VISA. I will take care of her AIR TRAVEL expenses. I have a car & accommodation given by my company. Need some help to understand

          1) Can I invite her to accompany me, will it be a reason to get her Visa? (I have seen people (B1+B2) going together to US, not seen the case where B1 is inviting spouse B2)
If not, what would be the other best reason to apply for VISA?
          2) What documents do I need to ask from my employer?
          3) Is any documents related to my Hotel accommodation proof required?
          3) Will 'accompanying spouse' be convincing reason for immigration officer?

          Thanks,
