    Hello

I have recently been naturalized and thus have a French passport. I know that I cannot hold onto my Indian passport and will have to get an OCI. However I was told that I could hold onto both for a minimum time. Is this true? If so for what period after receiving my French passport can I still have to Indian passport?

I intend to travel to India later this year and would like to apply for my OCI there. Can I thus enter Indian on a valid Indian passport within 1 year of obtaining my French passport?

    Thanks

    Tony

you need to fix that right away. Birth certificate is very important, more important than your passport. So get affidavits in order, attach your parents passport copies, and visit local registrar's office to see what the procedure is. I am sure you will get passport, by showing your parents passport copies, affidavits from them, and your school certificate. But this is something that should not ignored.

Also showing ration card can help you alot, with your birth certficate issue. That is the only document that shows all family members names. Hopefully names are correct on that.
Thanks for that. however I'm not sure you are replying to the correct message. My message was not regarding a birth certificate

You CAN'T travel on Indian passport once you become a naturalized citizen of another country. You will be fined if you have any travel stamps on your passport after you acquired French Citizenship. The fees posted below are in US dollars quoted from CKGS (visa acceptance facility in USA).

Penalty for Retention of Indian Passport (the validity of which expired on or after 1 Jan 2005) for more than 3 years after acquiring foreign citizenship. I think they also charge another 250$ for any other travel stamp.

Please check with your local Indian Consulate for fees in Euros.
