Can 401k used as financial support for visitor

Hi Everybody!

I am a New US citizen and wanted to have my brother who is a doctor in India and is married with a son and also he has his own clinic.Now my question is i want to sponsor my brother to come and visit as i don't have enough money in my bank accounts.But i do have 401k over 14k in it.So can i use it as saving to show that i can support my brother while he is here.I am also a full time employee and who mks around 44k a year.I recently filed for divorce and also went through back sugery in Jan 2013 and i need my brother for my moral support for a month or 2 as it is all new to me.I do have jewelry worth 20k and life insurances around 550.000 US .So please help me how to sponsor my brother.

Are you going to withdraw money from 401K to pay for his expenses while he is in the US? If yes, you can use that. If not, you can't.

if required I will withdraw from 401k

My brother is well off but if in case I neef to spend on I will definitely withdraw. How likely he will get the visa in this situation. Thanks again
