Hello,
I am currently in the States on my second visit (the first was for two years between 2009- 2011 on a J1 visa)
During that time I met my boyfriend who is an American citizen, I was not in violation of my visa as I met all the program requirements and I left before it expired, hence I could apply for a B2.
I was in my home country for 18 months before coming back to the States. While in my country (South Africa) he visited me and stayed with me for 9 months while I worked to support the both of us. He left when his visa expired, we stayed apart until we eventually decided I should come to the US. I got here in February 2013, my I-94 expires in August 2013, I would like to extend it until February 2014. He is fully supporting me wile I am here as I am not allowed to work. I have spent my savings traveling both coasts and Mexico so my savings is running low. I also paid to change the return date of my ticket before it expired, to February 2014- the time I plan to return to South Africa with him.
We have been together a total of three years and are not married, engaged or in the process of.
My questions are:
1. Can I list him as my financial sponsor on my extension?
2. Although I am traveling, I am mainly here for him, can I list this on the extension or will they think we have ulterior motives? We are trying to stay together anyway we legally can without being forced down the aisle. If we wanted to get married for a visa, we would have done it already, but it's not what either of us want. We just want to be together.
Please can someone help me, I would really appreciate it.
