We are in the process of applying for a US visitor's visa for my mother-in-law in India. She went for her interview and all documents were in order and was told that her visa would be granted if she could show proof of application of her visa extension when she was in the US 4 years ago.
Unfortunately we don't have that documentation. Her extension was actually approved but she left for India before that and we mailed her renewed I-94 back to the INS. The only documentation we have from that episode is the receipt sent to her by the INS when we applied for extension 4 years ago. Is this sufficient and if not is there some way of requesting/tracking this old case and request duplicates from the INS ?
I really appreciate any inputs based on anyone's prior experience on this.
