  • B2 extension

Hi, please I need your advice. This is my second visit to the us. I am currently separated from my USC spouse and our divorce should be done a year after separation. Right now I am engaged to another USC she wants me to be here until after the divorce so we could get married. What are my chances of been granted an extension? Please I need your advice.

*how much stay was granted to you during this visit and how much is remaining?
*what was your stated purpose of visit at entry this time?
*what about your work ties back home if you stay so long here in US with an extension?
*how many more estimated months to your final divorce?

      B2 extension

6 months was granted to me and more than 5 months is left
My stated purpose was to visit relatives
I am actually a student presently writing my thesis, but my graduation could be deferred or I could apply for a travel permit to attend my graduation.
8 more months to my final divorce

see, extension appl. outcome can never be predicted with certainty .
And extension applications take 3-4 months to process.

In your case, I would suggest you go ahead and apply for an extension NOW , since you have 5 months left.
You will receive a response before your original stay is over. So you will be safe.

If one receives a denial of extension and the original stay is expired, it can create problems so avoid overstaying your original stay
if the response is still pending.
