  • What is the most amount of time I can stay in the USA on a visitors visa?

I am a British citizen who purchased a vacation home in the USA 6 months ago, and stayed there for the 90 days allowed on the VWP. During those 3 months I met a very nice man and we became very close. When I went home after the 90 days on the VWP were up, I realised I fallen head over heels for this man, and decided to go straight back the USA for another 3 months, so we could be together. Now that 3 months is over, I have returned home, and I now learned that I cannot go back for a while because I have stayed the maximum 6 months allowed in a year. Is this correct?

What is the best way to get around this and stay longer? Is there a way? I have read something about and VWP extension, but I do not understand very much about that.

    Some more information:

    - My boyfriend is a Canadian has and US citizenship, which is reviewed every 10 years. He has lived and worked in the US for over 20 years.

    - I am financially able to support myself for the next few years without needing to work in the US.

    - I would be very interested in doing some volunteering work in the US.

    - I have no qualifications for the specialist jobs (Dr, ect..) which allow people to reside in the US.

    - Attending a college programme for a visa wouldn't be something I would be interested in either.

    - Marriage and children are out of the question, as it has only been 3 months.

    - My boyfriend cannot leave the US because of obligations at work.

    Thank you in advance.

Apply for a work visa & do some job there in USA. You need to be get paid all the time you stay in USA on a work visa.

Your boyfriend does not have U.S. citizenship if his status is subject to renewal every 10 years. That is standard life of a Green Card. You might consider applying for a B2 visitor visa, rather than using your VWP status, as the entry time allowed for a B2 visa can be 3 or 6 months, with a similar extension usually allowed.

You have the option to apply for New permanent resident card from the uscis office and you can stay permanently in USA, and to not worry about the legal formality from the U.S. Nation else you want to apply the visa and you can stay up to 6 month and it will routines every 6 months

        Thanks

          Robert,

The original poster does not have Permanent Resident status, so is unable to stay beyond her B2 or VWP allowed periods.

The original poster is not eligible for a Permanent Resident card because her boyfriend is not a U.S. citizen (though the poster posted that her boyfriend was a "citizen," whose status has to be renewed every 10 year). If her boyfriend petitions her, it will be about two years for her Priority Date to be current.
