  • Re-entering US after Visitor Visa Extension

My mom came to the USA on Mar. 1st 2015 with B1/B2 VISA and got the extension approval for 3 months, so she stayed till Oct. 31st 2015. I would like to know when i can ask her back to the USA to help me with my pregnancy...Can she come back on May 1st, 2016?

I am assuming she has a 10 year multiple entry visa. If that is the case, then it should be fine, however, I would not apply for an extension this visit. Also, be aware that the POE officer may not approve for a full 6 months this time but you won't know until she arrives.

Coming back so soon after an 8-month stay could trigger scrutiny at POE. CBP could deny her entry, or let her in for a shorter duration. B2 visas are for short visits.

          Cousin extension of visitor visa

My cousin has 10 yr multiple entry tourist visa, in 2014 she was here for six months on a six month i-94. In 2015 she was here for a month on a six month I 94. This year she arrived recently and asked for a month's stay, her return ticket was four months away (It is of course a changeable ticket), but she was separated for extra examination at the port of entry and later given a one month i-94. Is it a good idea to apply for extension? How long do these applications take to resolve. She could leave within a month as required, will any of this cause her problems on future trips?

She is a stay at home mom with grown up kids so her schedule is quite flexible.. She likes being a visitor as long as it is fun and tries to gauge our ability to take her around before she decides when to return..

Nothing fishy just a lady with grown kids- that went off to college, she feels out how busy we the hosts are and if she thinks we are relaxed to take her around, she stays longer otherwise she leaves early..

Of course we as hosts would love longer trips so we have the flexibility to take her around at a more relaxed pace..

Being pulled aside is not common.. CBP certainly suspected something!

Why else would they allow her just a month's stay whereas previously they authorized a full 6 mos each time?

I am wondering the same thing, nothing to suspect here, but what was the problem? the ticket date? The fact that she asked only for a month..?
She has and is going to conform to all the rules .. what would that do to the next visit. Should she apply for extension to make my life easier?

And hence the start of my conversation..

Does any one know how long an extension application takes to process? Days or weeks? I guess I am driving her around for the next few weeks before she leaves for home per her 1 month i-94.
