  • Vistor visa extension and travel

My parents got a multiple entry 10 yr visa in the fourth attempt. Thank you immihelp and all others you have posted here.

My parents are visiting me currently, they have come to USA in March and there 6 month stay has ended on Sept 6th. I have applied for an extension in June for another 3 months till Dec 6th. I have applied for extension because even I am planning to visit India to attend my cousin's wedding in Dec and we all wanted to go together. I have received a letter from INS that they have received our extension approval, but I have not heard anything about approval or denial so far. INS center in CA is backl ogged for 3 months.

I am planning to send my parents on an escorted tour of west coast from Thomas Cook in October. If we still do not hear anything by then will my parents have any problems while they are travelling. They will carry the receipt from INS, but will they have any problems as their passports indicate that there visa has expired

    Thanks

Ok, probably the reasons are trivial.

My understanding is if we have applied for an extension before there I-94 expires then we can legally be in united states until we hear whether the extension is approved or denied.

I have been writing letters to INS and have not heard back and the web link gives no other information. Tried calling, but the automated message says the same thing as web.

So, someone please tell me that my assumption is right that my parents can stay until we hear back.

If their application gets denied usually there is grace period within which they should leave. I will make sure that will happen. Leaving not knowing the outcome especially when they are in-status is not required. They do not know the status because there is a huge backlog. I have seen extensions approved for far more trivial reasons. If the visa gets rejected and they do not leave within that grace period then they would be overstaying and that will never happen in my case.

So, thank you for scaring people and providing incomplete information and not answering what is being asked.

If you are so knowledgeable on the subject of immigration and visas how come your parents were rejected 3 times? And how come you have asked 29 questions about immigration/visas on this forum if you know everything on the subject.

Stop wasting our time asking questions that you know the answer to. And if you "have seen extensions approved for far more trivial reasons" then may be you should go ahead and start another website or forum dedicated to that where every questioner is given exactly the answers they want to hear and not advice that is in the best interest of the questioner.

I am sure you will find many people with your mindset who are interested in such a website or forum.

Well, you both are DEAD WRONG. I am really happy to tell you that for the trivial reasons you said the visa has been approved. I can provide you the tracking numbers if you like.

As far visa getting rejected 3 times, it was due to bad luck and burkahha lady. My parents were not asked to show any documents nor did they see any documents even when requetsed. The case with so many other people. When they went the 4th time they got another VO and they got the visa.Yes, indeed the visa process is unfair and unjust.

All I am saying please don't provide wrong information and scare people. Eventhough you have disclaimers saying that use the information at your own risk - you are actually scaring people by providing wrong information. Case and point I am talking about the point that my parents had to leave immediately eventhough they are in-status and not overstaying without approval. We are just waiting for result of extension request and that is not illegal.

            Well well well

I don't think many users agree with your opinion on the Burqa lady. My parents never lied they had put 6 months on the visa application and got 6 months. My cousin's wedding was fixed after they have arrived here, we have legally asked for extension and we got it.

It is not that I want to hear sugar coated answers, I have been burned 3 times with un fair justice system, so I know. Spare me the lecture about scruples. My parents were in no vilation because they were in-status, you have scared us by stating that they would be overstaying and breaking the law.

People are asking questions on this form and you don't have to abuse them verbally , just because you think the extension reasons are trivial. You are not the VO, so save your judgement and don't inflict opionions on other people. If the reasons were so trivial then why was the extension approved. You don not know the criteria why the VO officer rejects or approves any application.

People who are coming to this forum requesting advice, please do not put up with free verbal abuse.
