Visitor visa extension

Hello,
I am planning to extend my mother's visitor visa for a month. She has visa till Aug 5th and i am planning to extend it till sept 18th as we are going back to India for good and we thought we will take my mother also with us instead of sending her alone.

1. Can I specify the reason above in the letter sending along with application ???

2. Can I apply it now itself or wait till 4 to 6 weeks before I-94 date ???

3. which process is good whether to apply it ONLINE or the paper applicaiton ???

Could someone throw some light on my questions. I will be very glad to get any kind of information. Thank you all for your help in advance.

1. You can but if it is going to be of any use is questionable.
2. It is recommended that you apply sooner as the person can depart if denied as per the I-94.
3. No difference.
