  • Extension of Visitor Visa

My mom has a 10 yr multiple entry visa. She visited us in Jan of 2001 and stayed for 8 months legally with an extension of I-94.
She is visiting us again and at the POE in Washington-DC she was questioned as why she over stayed last time. Before she replied back the officer stamped her I-94 for 3 months (04/29/2004).
I am planning to apply for a 3 month extn in middle of March (six weeks before the expiry) until 07/29/2004 but I heard from some my friends that if she over stays again legally then next time if she ever comes again then she would potentially be stamped for 1 month on her I-94 or rejected completely. Is this true? Any experiences shared in this regard will be much appreciated. Thanks

Yes, anything could happen. Officer at the port of entry determines the duration of stay and he can do whatever he wants, unfortunately.
