Extending B2 Visa

Hi,

I have a B2 visa due to run out on July 19th. I'm planning on applying to extend my visa another 6 months - for reasons of extended travelling/tourism.

My question is... I'd really like to stay in the USA past Christmas/New Year. Mid-January would be great, but ideally another 6 months up to next summer (taking the trip to 18 months total). I can show proof of having money to last that time.

What would the likelyhood be of getting a 2nd visa extension accepted just for tourism? If it was declined might I be able to stay in the USA until mid-January under the 30-days to leave type rule?

Any thoughts are very appreciated. Thanks!

You can't stay past 1 year.

30 day rule is not like what you think. You can not stay one day beyond I-94 date. You will be illegal immediately when your authorized stay expires. If you don't leave within 30 days, you may be forcefully deported at that time. 30 days is to leave the U.S. gracefully, but you would still incur illegal stay.

Another quick question. I don't have a US bank account, or a check book for my UK bank account. How can I pay the $300? Will a money order I pay for in cash at the Post Office be fine?
