Duration of stay in home country between visits

Hello,

My parents came to the US on March 19th 2020. We had to extend their stay due to COVID and they returned to India on March 8th 2021. Extension was applied and biometrics was given.

They are planning to come back to the US on March 18th 2022 as we wanted to perform mom’s 60th birthday rituals. Will they face any issues at the immigration?

Anything is possible, but with a year and definite plans to return home, they probably should be OK. Is their previous visa still valid?

Thanks! Yes, their visa is valid until 2026 and they plan to return by September. Is there any criteria that they should’ve stayed in India for more than a year before returning, since they stayed in the US for almost an year?

There's no rule that says a certain time is safe. They're trying to determine if she is legitimately visitig or abusing the visa to defacto live in the US. As I stated, a long time at home and the ability to show definite plans to return after the upcoming visit will likely get her admitted.
