B2 visa extension for in-laws

Hello Seniors,

My in-laws came to US and they have their I94 valid till Sep 18 2012. They have their return air ticket on Sep 09 2012 now.

I am thinking to extend visa for my anut for two more months. Can you please tell me how to build the case for the extension? Can i claim tourism reason as they have to explore more places here? Can you please explain the criteria that we should satisfy to be eligible for extension?

Is this right time to start the extension process? Or are we late in the game? This is their first visit, is this request for extension will have any impact on their future visits?

How much fee we have to pay for extension? And how long it will take for the extension process?

I would really appreciate your valuable inputs at this juncture as we are unable to decide how to go about this whole process.

I had applied for my mothers extension of stay back in 2003. I do not remember fee etc, you should look

But our justification was that due to heavy snow that year, our travekl plans had been impacted and we therefore wanted to extend stay for additional travel. We got approval for additional 6 months. It was a stressful experioence for us as the approval arrived after her I94 date had passed. If the extension would have been rejected I believe my mom would have been out f status.

Anyways, next time my mom came to visit us, she was detained in a separate room for more than 2 hours, with a lot of questioning, almost like an interrogation; asking her why she had stayed back etc etc. It was bad experience. But after that they let her in for 6 months. She has had no problems since then.
