  • Mr Narendra...could you help me out with this?

    Hi Narendra,

I have read various posts by you on this forum and have learnt quite a lot from it. Based on what you said on this thread -http://www.immihelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8268 , I started evaluating the choices available.

A insurance broker came up to me today saying that they are an indian insurance company **** in tie up with the administrator "Euroalarm" in the US. The details they gave about their policy was -

    1) it is a comprehensive plan
    2) they are in tie up with "Euroalarm" in the US.
    3) they dont issue a insurance card but give you a printout itseems with all the policy details
    4) they have a US tollfree number manned by their US administrator Euroalarm.
    5) they say it is a renewable policy with 'no renewing fee' but just payment of the next period premium
    6) they say it covers both out patient and inpatient benefits
    7) the deductible is $100 per sickness
    8) there is no coinsurance involved
    9) For the age of around 61 they were saying that the premium was around Rs.4400 (which would be around $100).
    10) For all claims above $400 they are settled by their US administrator Euroalarm but for claims within $400 one needs to do the payment and later claim reimbursement once you come back to India.
    11) they then even mentioned that there were no hidden costs.
    12) the average time to get a claim settled is about 10-15 days

What do you think about this plan?
Is this plan okay or am I missing something here?
Do you have any experience with this group?
Do you think I should consider this or not based on your expertise?

thank you for the time you would be spending on this for me.

I have never heard of those companies before.
We deal exclusively with companies based in US. Therefore, I don't have any experience with them.

I can't comment much on the plans that I don't represent.

Read the points again from my previous post at http://www.immihelp.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8268

They don't give you health insurance cards. They don't have PPO network. In that case, you need to ask your local hospitals/doctors whether they are willing to deal with them directly. If not, whatever the insurance company/administrator says does not matter.

How can it be renewable? Indian law does not allow people to renew overseas travel insurance from Indian company when the person is physically not present in India.

Also, try calling their toll-free number to see whether they are readily available. Also, did you check whether the administrator has the money to pay the claims or do they have to get from the insurance company first? If later, it may take long time. Also, try to find out what are the options in case of any disputes? I don't think they are bound by US laws.

And if you have the policy wording (not the brochure) of that insurance, and if you can send that to me, I can take a look at that to get more idea.

It is obviously advantegous to buy insurance from US based companies and US based agents for better customer service. Read https://www.insubuy.com/guide/
