My father is 80+ and had a stroke last year He is still on medication for blood thinner but doctor as well as physical appearance/ activity suggests that he is normal now. Dr has certified that he is fit fro travel and is planing to visit US for three months. I want to buy an plan for him just in case of an emergency which may allow to consult dr or any other eventuality. I think what I need is a plan-
1. Covering pre-existing condition
2. Any new abnormality
3. Emergency evacuation
4. last rites

Thanks for your suggestion. I believe safe travel does not cover emergency evacuation, in case individual fall sick in travel or in case of death while in US? I understand about the limited benefits of insurance at this age. Does any plan have additional benefit of emergency evacuation and handling last rites + benefits as described by safe travel plan.

While browsing the quote for Safe Travels there is one term- Home Country/Follow Me Home . what is the meaning of this ? Does that mean If I say yes only then emergency evacuation is added or it is something else. I tried to read the brochure and other details but could not find information about this.

Home country coverage is for those who need coverage in their home country once they have returned to their home country. That is particularly helpful to young Americans who need the coverage in the US (after returning from a long trip abroad) before they can find new job and their job based insurance starts. I don't believe that would be of any use to 80+ years old Indian who lives in India. Once he reaches India (on his own), I don't think he needs coverage there. And this has nothing to do with emergency medical evacuation.
