  • Which Insurance plan to buy

    Hi there,

I have been reading so many reviews regarding difference insurances and their coverages taken from US or India for parents travelling to US. I am very confused. If insubuy.com or anyone can respond to some of my questions, it would be a great help.

    1. My mom dad visited me in 2011 using ICICI lombard insurance and that time he got hospitalized. Despite so many negative reviews of ICICI insurance, that time we didn't have to pay anything from our pocket as we took him to a County hospital. So my question is, should we take ICICI lombard insurance again for them? Since there is a column in their form whether you were hospitalized and used this insurance in past. I am worried that if I say yes thats going to create problem if I want to claim it again. Suggestions needed?

    2. I am reading lot of reviews about other insurance policies available through insubuy.com. Everyone seems to be preferring Atlas America insurance since its a comprehensive coverage plan. However, its looking very expensive to me. Can anyone provide me a genuine feedback on Visitor Secure insurance (fixed coverage plan) though it has a feature of multiple PPO networks?

This would be a great help!

It is certainly your choice whether you would like to purchase from a company in India or in the US. It is always recommended that you purchase from US based company, as it has many advantages, as described at https://www.insubuy.com/visitors-ins...ia-comparison/

There are two types of visitors insurance policies:
    Fixed: Cheaper, limited coverage
    Comprehensive: More expensive, better coverage

    Details at https://www.insubuy.com/visitors-insurance/

We always recommend everyone to buy comprehensive coverage plans only and never the fixed coverage plans. https://www.insubuy.com/visitors-ins...ixed-coverage/

If fixed coverage plans provided adequate coverage, the same company would not want to charge you 2 to 3 times more money and offer you the similar coverage, and such more expensive products would not even exist because no one would buy them.

And you need to keep in mind that most products from Indian companies are fixed coverage plans above a certain age such as 55 years and in some companies above 50 years.

I personally had to file two big claims with Atlas America and they were promptly taken care of. Therefore, I would definitely recommend that. You can purchase it online at https://www.insubuy.com/atlasamerica-insurance/

If you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time.
    Thanks & Regards

Buy the policy from a US based company. US companies are forced to adhere to some consumer protection standards. That does not mean that they will not try to scam you, but at least your odds are a little better. Anyway, the other issue is if they do scam you, then what can you do? You can call and complain a lot (that is what I do). If you lose your center, and say something threatening (and I am not suggesting that you do so, but that is what I usually do), expect the company to call the "law" on you. Law enforcement in the USA is "all bark and little bite". I would not put myself in a position were I might get into trouble with a company in India. I suspect law enforcement is a bit more serious there.
