  • Inbound USA for partners

I am interested in purchasing the 'Inbound USA' policy advertised on your website. I am 'composer in residence' at the University of Central Florida in Orlando for an initial one year period which may be extended to three years by mutual consent. I travelled here with my partner of 30 years, John Endemann. INS regulations do not recognise non-married partners so John is here on a multiple entry visa and will have to briefly leave and re-enter the US every six months. Will your company recgnise John as my 'spouse' or my 'dependent'? If not, what course of action would you suggest for us? We are seeking as economical a plan as possible since we are funded from New Zealand and are forced to make a little stretch quite a long way! Many thanks for your advice on this!

Insurance does NOT recognize non-married partners as well.

You will have to purchase separate policy for each person. You can purchase Inbound USA at http://www.insubuy.org/safe-travels-for-visitors-to-the-usa-insurance/

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks very much for that information.

I have a further question which concerns the deductible amount. I cannot seem to find a guide as to what a general practitioner would usually charge for a visit in this country - just a monthly check-up for example or a consultation to review, say, hayfever medication. Could it be $50 or less? Obviously if it is I will set my deductible amount much higher to being my premium down. I imagine fees for general practice vary very widely so a 'ball-park' figure would be fine.

      Thanks for your advice,

Anyway, the maximum amount of deductible allowed in Inbound USA is $100.

Doctor's office charges in the range of $100 to $150 for a visit. It can also be more in many cases.
        Thanks & Regards
