Visitor's Health Insurance

Hello Mr. Khatri,

My parents are visiting U.S. and I am interested in buying health insurance for them. I do not understand the "pre-existing condition" clause very well. I will appreciate if you can please advice. My specific question is whether High BP is considered a pre-existing condition in the event they need (May God forbid) any emergency medical treatment for stroke or heart attack ?

Also, just so that you know, both my parents have high BP, but they have never had a stroke or heart attack. Their ECG's are normal too. They are on regular medication to control high BP.

Neither me nor anyone can tell in advance whether some condition would be considered as pre-existing condition or not. Therefore, if any of them have heart attack or stroke, it would be determined by the insurance company's claim department based on the dr. opinion and all medical records whether something was a pre-existing condition or not. Stroke/heart attack can occur because of a variety of reasons. It can work out either way.
