wanted to know if we shud purchase medical insurance for anyone in visiting here in USA if the person is in good health and already undergone complete medical check up in India?

2. Also , should they need to have medical insurance from day one landing in USA?

3. Or is it okay if they obtain only for certain period of their stay say the first month or the last month whenever as they want to ?

4. What is the minimum plan , 15 days or 20 days?

Insurance is essentially for healthy people and not for those who are already sick. Anything unexpected may occur in future and that is what insurance is meant to cover.

As the healthcare costs are very high in the USA, it is highly recommended that you buy visitors medical insurance for your relatives visiting USA.

It is not necessary. However, three points to keep in mind:
A. If you end up waiting, it is highly likely that the person gets sick or injured and it is too late at that time as it would be considered as pre-existing conditions and not covered.
B. Sometimes, people get sick or injured during the long travel. Therefore, it is better that they have insurance even before they arrive in the USA and the one that covers during travel time as well.
C. If the person is 65 years of age or older, some plans may not be available if you were already in the US for 30 days or more without insurance.

That's possible. However, please note that anything unexpected may happen at any time. Therefore, it is recommended that you buy for the entire duration.
Some people buy insurance only for the duration they are touring places. However, those people may get sick or injured while at home too. And there have been many instances like that. Therefore, that is not advised.
