  • question on Atlas America

    Hi Narendra,

I understand that Atlas America has coverage for Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition. I see other companies has that coverage but specify that pre-existing condition in last 6 months, or 2 years or 3 years are not covered. Does Atlas America has that limitation? Thanks!

All the plans have pre-existing conditions exclusions. Regarding the exclusion duration, please read second FAQ at https://www.insubuy.com/visitor-medi...ng-conditions/

As an exception to that, Atlas America covers up to $15,000 in acute onset of pre-existing conditions.

I hope that answers your questions.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time or post them here.

I don't understand. Let me ask this way, a person had stroke within the last 6 months and is visiting the US. Will Atlas America covers the person for pre-existing condition? And are there any caveats or restrictions?

No plan covers the pre-existing conditons. If the person had a stroke in last 6 months (or whenever), that would be considered as pre-existing condition.

Atlas America only covers an acute onset of pre-existing condition. Please try to understand the difference betweeen the coverage for pre-existing conditions and an acute onset of pre-existing condition.

Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition:
If you are under age 70, you are covered for an Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition. Coverage is available up to $15,000 Maximum for Eligible Medical Expenses and up to $25,000 for Emergency Medical Evacuation. An Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of Physician recommendations or symptoms. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence.
        Thanks & Regards

          Let's try this again...

A person had a stroke within the last 6 months and is visiting the US. The intention is not to have insurance cover the medical checkup and medications related to the stroke while the person is here. The intention is in the event the person has another stroke while in the US, the insurance company will pay for the medical expenses. I think that qualifies as Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition by Atlas America, correct?

Based on a hypothecial scenario, it is not possible to tell in advance whether something would be an acute onset of pre-existing condition or not.

It can only be determined afterfact based on the attending physician report and the medical records.

If it indeed is an acute onset of pre-existing condition, Atlas America would cover up to $15,000 for persons age below 70 years.
