In our experience, we have found that, while product designers require the foundation in the field that is gained thru an associates degree program, the ability to design creative effective interactive apps depends more on experience than on theoretical knowledge gained in a bach degree program. Thus, since we have employed, will employ, individuals in product design roles wout bach degree, we list associate degree as the minimum education requirement for the position. We list a wide range of fields as applicants wassoc degrees in any of those fields will have the necessary foundation to perform duties of the position. 5 YRS EXPERIENCE WORKING AS A UXUI DESIGNER DESIGNING NATIVE iOS MOBILE APPS FOR TRANSACTIONAL SYSTEMS FROM INITIAL CONCEPT TO IMPLEMENTATION. Because 1stdibs is a multisided platform, the Product Team is responsible for buyer and dealer experiences across the web mobile app based products, as well as a suite of webbased tools to support internal teams. Thus, it is essential that the Lead Product Designer Mobile has significant experience designing these types of apps. Required exp includes core duties of the position. UXUI refers to User Experience User interface design. Native app application in the context of mobile apps refers to any app written to work on a specific device platform. Thus, even if not described as a native mobile app, but rather as a mobile app, the term applies to all mobile apps written to work on specific device platforms. iOS refers to Apples operating system platform. Transactional systems refer to systems in which systems which can be used concurrently by many users, respond immediately to user requests. EXPERIENCE MUST INCLUDE DEFINING AND RUNNING USABILITY TESTS FOR AT LEAST 3 PROJECTS An important role of the lead designer is understanding user requirements testing apps before they are released. Such testing is critical to the success of our apps. MUST BE PROFICIENT IN SKETCH a digital app used in all 1st dibs app designs and ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE a suite of applications that are industry standard for graphic design. Sketch Adobe Creative Suite are at the core of the design work to be performed and thus the employee must be proficient. Such proficiency takes time to develop, more than 6 months. It is expected of an indiv who has 5 yrs experience will meet these proficiency requirements. While the designer will be required to utilize other tools and apps, we have not listed them because, unlike Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite, we believe that someone with the required education, experience and proficiencies will be able to become adept at using them in less than six months. MUST HAVE PORTFOLIO WHICH INCLUDES AT LEAST THREE EXAMPLES OF WORK WHICH HAS BEEN PRODUCED AND IMPLEMENTED. It is industry standard to view the portfolios of designers in any field, especially lead designers. It is important that we see a minimum of three examples of work designed by applicants which was able to be produced and implemented and was not just theoretically interesting. We respectfully submit that the requirements for the job and fact that they may exceed the SVP are justified by business necessity and bear more than a reasonable relationship to the duties of the job offered within the context of our business. In the absence of these requirements, the employee would not be able to execute the duties. Further, while the occupation has been designated a Job Zone 4 position with an SVP of 7, the requirements are a matter of business necessity for this senior level design position in our firm.
