My timeline is as follows-
12/23/2016 - OFC appointment
12/27/2016 - The interview was completely uneventful. The VO asked me where I worked, what I did and how much I made. Then he mentioned he was voiding my F1 Visa and keeping my passport for H1B stamping. He said congratulations, your visa is approved.
01/05/2017 - 6 business days have passed and I have still not received my passport. The tracker says it is still with US Consulate. I write an email to [email protected] asking for my update.
01/09/2017 - I receive a response from support saying - 'Your application remains pending under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act for mandatory administrative processing. U.S. immigration law requires that additional steps be completed in some cases before a file can be advanced for adjudicative review. '
I don't understand whats happening. Shouldn't the VO have returned my passport with a slip if I was flagged under 221(g)?
