Interview on the 11th of December. Full time work doesn't really involve AI, but unfortunately the product does. As soon as AI was mentioned the officer said everything looks good and directed me to another window, at which point I received the 221g form. Submitted docs on the 14th, waiting. This is my second renewal, I've been in the US for ~10 years now.
Lesson: Do NOT interview just before the holiday season, and the Delhi embassy is slower.
Jan 9th 2018: No movement at all so far.
Jan 16th 2018: No movement. Loss of hope accelerates at this point roughly!
