02/08/2018: appeared for visa interview at Auckland US consulate for new H1B/H4 visa application (family application for me, wife and my son), asked few questions about my job (I work in computational biology field in academia), and my wife's working period (my wife used to work as J2, but quit the job as she changed into H4 status). Passports were collected at the interview. The officer said it would be done within 40 days.
So far: I have kept calling and checking on weekly basis. Stressed that I am actively working and maintaining rent, cat etc in US, and I have US born son whose visitor visa is about to expire. Still told to remain on hold. I called my HR and state senate to inquire about my case.
