First time H1B applicant, previously on F1. I'm an FTE for a large firm.
This is my 4th visa application; my previous F1 and B1 visas were approved easily. Note I have a common Muslim name.
Timeline:
Feb 9 - Went for visa interview. The VO said my visa was approved, but sent me to another counter to pay reciprocity fee. After paying, the original VO left and I had to give my passport to a different VO, who gave me admin processing slip with several questionnaires (e.g. 15-year travel history, family member's names, social media handles). I submitted my response in 2 hours, and they replied with confirmation.
Apr 10 - Emailed the embassy for status after 60 days. They replied saying it's still under admin processing and I just have to wait.
May 10 / Jun 8 - Emailed again after 90 days and 120 days. Received the same reply. No update on CEAC.
Aug 23 - Embassy emailed asking for a scanned copy of I-797A, sent right away. They confirmed receipt, but no update on CEAC.
